Happy New Year
Happy New Year from 1Voice!
We want to thank everyone who has been part of 1Voice in 2023.
Our key focuses for 2023 were:
to develop our regional branch network;
to attract new families;
to review our approach to national events;
to develop our communications, including our website.
2023 Roundup
It has been a busy year. Notable highlights are:
We gained 31 new members, including 18 parents, four adult AAC users, six professionals, one volunteer, and two carers. Including the children of new families, our network increased by 51 individuals.
We are delighted to welcome two new trustees this year, Hannah and Jason, and are sorry to see Nicola and Fran step down after our Annual General Meeting in November.
124 people attended our national weekend in August, including 14 new families.
We held several regional branch events. 1Voice Lakes and Bay had three events this year. We were delighted with the launch of 1Voice Yorkshire, which held two events. Other local events are in the planning stages.
25 people joined in the fun at our online Christmas party
We have held several parents’ chats online, which have been well attended.
We continue to work on our website and communications and helped increase awareness of AAC via our social media platforms during AAC awareness month in October.
We presented at the Communication Matters Conference in September, speaking about our regional networks.
2024 Plans
1Voice is excited about its plans for the coming year.
To ensure that we make good use of limited resources and focus on areas that are important to our members, we recently launched a future events’ survey, which asked members to put several options in order of priority. We were delighted to receive 69 responses. The results of the survey have helped us shape our priorities for next year.
Our top three priorities for 2024 are:
Increasing our local branch events - could you set up a branch?
A one-day event (in a more central / northern location)
Holding our national residential weekend (August 2-4 at Treloar College, Hampshire)
