Voiceitt is speech recognition technology for people with nonstandard speech due to conditions like cerebral palsy or accented English.
In this online session Michael Cash, Product Specialist at Voiceitt will demonstrate Voiceitt’s speak and dictation modes and share how they can empower your students’ engagement in their classroom and beyond with additional features like the Voiceitt Chrome Extension and Zoom integration.

CENMAC’s Thursday Thirty – Inspiration 11: a lifetime tool for users with neuro differences or cognitive challenges

Inspiration 11 is used to create a variety of visual diagrams, maps, outlines, presentations and more. Combining visual and verbal cues, the software allows students to create highly customisable diagrams that help with creativity, engagement, and memory retention.
This is particularly effective for users with neuro-differences or cognitive challenges, where Inspiration 11 often becomes a lifelong tool they depend on in education, the workplace and personally.

CENMAC’s Thursday Thirty – Supporting AAC to reflect Language and Culture in schools

Communication symbols are rarely used in mainstream teaching, yet they are ubiquitous in specialist classes.
A typical mainstream class has two to three children who struggle with communication. Symbols can make a huge amount of difference to their experience, however, adding symbols to lesson materials is time consuming.

In October, we celebrate AAC Awareness Month, a crucial time to reflect on the importance of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). This month is an opportunity to raise awareness, educate and innovate on strategies and tools that enhance communication for all users.
With Hiru eye-tracker’s compatibility across both iPadOS and Windows platforms, users can explore a wide range of settings and apps. To help navigate these possibilities, CENMAC have developed an app wheel that highlights various apps tailored to different communication, needs and purposes.
October is AAC Awareness Month
October is AAC Awareness Month is celebrated every year to spread the word about augmentative and alternative communication and the many different ways people communicate. Most AAC users use a range of communication methods including body language and gestures, facial expressions as well as a communication device/s.
The ISAAC theme for 2024 is “Vibes of AAC” and encourages celebrating with social events such as a morning or afternoon tea, reading stories, watching videos, making music and other community events to help promote AAC awareness.
Help to spread awareness and show how you are supporting AAC awareness by sharing your events and activities using #AACaware24.

Our 2024 National Residential Weekend will take place at Treloar College in Alton, Hampshire, GU34 4GL. Treloar College is a specialised centre for physically disabled children and young people making the weekend accessible for all.
As always we welcome new AAC users and their supporters as well as familiar faces. Our national weekend events cater for all ages and all members of the family, as well as assistants, speech and language therapists and other interested professionals.
The 2024 National Residential Weekend will run Friday 2nd August to Sunday 4th August.
